Best pet insurance plans, essential characteristics
There are of course numerous options available for ensuring our animal friends are covered if something should go wrong with them. Many will claim to be the best pet insurance policies available - but what are the most essential elements of a great pet health insurance policy? We thought we would give our opinion on what these are:
1) Covering of vet fees and costs - this is a given. Your plan should be able to cover you for vet bills up to a certain amount, dependent on your chosen level of cover
2) Kennel costs - you need to know that your pet will be cared for if you are unable to travel with it
3) Some flexibility in the policy - can you upgrade or downgrade you plan at any point?
Not totally essential but nice to have:
1) Tailored plans for different types of animals - or similarly for different breeds, i.e pedigree dogs
2) Some speciality providers such as the RSPCA, contribute a percentage of policies to care for unwanted animals
We would be keen to hear your opinion on what you consider to be must-haves on your pet insurance policies, let us know in the comments section.........
