Pets and health

Insuring a pet isn't something everyone does - reasons for not insuring are probably down to the way people view the outlay - seeing this as a saving however is a false economy if your pet needs an emergency operation - vet's bills these days can easily run into hundreds of pounds, wiping out any perceived 'saving' and more, in an instant.

Of course, you don't need to have your pet insured at a great cost for a million eventualities - if you work out what your requirements are and get a quote accordingly you should be able find a policy to suit your pocket.

It's often reported that the fun and companionship provided by pets can be beneficial to human health - a good reason that we should value our pets' health and do what we can to ensure that they are as healthy as can be at all times.

If you have any stories about pets and insurance, let us know in the comments. We'd be particularly interested to hear from people who have exotic or valuable pets that have required veterinary attention.
